Ashbourne kept almost the same team as for the November matches, but Ella Zyngiel went from a red 2 to an orange 4 in the interim. Ella, Sam Butler and Matthew Tavernor are relatively experienced, but Will Heron as a red 3 was playing in only his second external match. Ashbourne's first opposition was Duffield and they drew 3-3 in a competitive, but enjoyable match. Some of Ashbourne's players had to adapt from having played orange ball tennis the day before, back to sponge, but by the time they played Chesterfield II and David Lloyd II the tennis had been refined and they won 5-1 and 6-0 respectively.
Going into the January fixture, Ashbourne had been lying in second place to the David Lloyd team, trailing by 2 points, so the team did well to come back to win by 6 points in the final analysis.
