After Andy Murray’s historic win at Wimbledon this year, David Lloyd Derby have decided to celebrate his victory by starting their search for the next JUNIOR WIMBLEDON or OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS!
They are holding a Talent ID/Tennis Fun Day, run specifically to identify, encourage and engage FUTURE RACQUET STARS of tomorrow via their All Stars Racquets programme at Derby!
The ‘SEARCH FOR A MINI RACQUET ALLSTAR’ will be run on Saturday 20th July and will comprise a club talent ID day for NEW tennis, squash & badminton players.
Parents are invited to bring their children along to the club on Saturday 20th July from 2-4pm if they fit one of the age groups below:
10 & under – 1/9/2002 – 31/8/2003 Mini Green
9 & under – 1/9/2003 – 31/8/2004 Mini Orange
8 & under – 1/9/2004 – 31/8/2005 Mini Red 1
7 & under – 1/4/2005 – 31/8/2006 Mini Red 2
6 & under – 1/4/2006 – 31/8/2007 Mini Red 3
The children will be placed in their appropriate age groups on arrival at 2pm. From there they will take part in a 2 hour session which will involve:
- Fun warm up with coordination exercises
- Basic tennis, badminton and squash drills
- Speed, agility and quickness profiling
- Fun games and Match play
From here, the two players, one boy and one girl, that show the most outstanding potential (in the coaches opinion!) will be asked back to join our highly successful performance programme from the 2nd September 2013 for FREE.
Everybody else who wishes to become a member will be given a free introductory session on the appropriate group in our All Stars coaching programme to help improve their athletic profile and racquet skill base in time for the next talent ID session in 6 months.
It is very important to note that all players who attend the Club Talent ID day on the 20th July have the chance to enter a prize draw to win one of Andy Murray’s Head Racquets.
