The girls galloped off at a fast pace, winning all the singles and doubles matches without dropping a set and allowing Becky to replace Ceire in the doubles to play in a tough match against their number one pair, which they subsequently won, whilst Ceire rested.

There were sharp performances by all of the girls & only one set was lost during the whole day.

So many times Derbyshire girls have been the underdogs on the final day of County Cup, however this time we were firm favourites. The girls did not disappoint and their consistent performances meant we were 5-1 up after the singles, losing our only match in a close three setter. At this stage our victory and promotion were secured. We were conceded the doubles by the defeated Berkshire, although our girls strongly desired to complete the match.
This was an easy and enjoyable County Cup for Bill and myself. Commitment and professionalism from all the girls paid off and the team spirit was the best I have encountered. Sadly we say goodbye to Louise, Dani and Liv from U18s County Cup. They have represented and supported the junior County teams since the ages of 10 and 11. Bill and I would like to personally thank them for their contribution over all of those years. We wish them continued success in senior tennis.
