Junior teams from across Leicestershire (and Derbyshire in the case of Grangewood!) gathered at the Dan Maskell Tennis Centre in Lougborough to celebrate the season's successes.
This is the 6th annual awards day and for a second successive year it was held on court after many of the juniors had watched the ladies' final of the Aegon $25,000 dollar pro series event.
The purpose of the day is to recognise the enjoyment of playing team tennis for a club. This requires a slightly different mindset to chasing singles ratings in tournaments. The hope is that children will enjoy the team environment and, whetever their ability, continue to play for their clubs as adults.
Guests of honour making the presentations were long serving junior organisers George Milne of Oadby Granville and Jon Hall of Roundhill.
For the fourth time in five years the Kibworth club won the 'Club of The Year' shield. This is awarded on the basis of the number of league wins and runners-up positions achieved across all the junior age groups from 8 to 18. Ashby Castle were second overall and Lutterworth third.
The 'Team Player of the Year' went to Hamilton's Ryan Palmer with Ashby Castle's Lois Adlam a very close runner-up. The nominations were independently adjudged by Aegon tournament referee Philip Evans.
Hamilton won 'The Fallows Cup' for a third successive year.
The event was organised by Jean Green's Marketing and Sponsorship committee of Tennis Leics.
