It has been a very busy start to the new year for Jay, with a 3 week trip to India to compete in 3 ITF tournaments. He performed well reaching the quarter final of singles and doubles in one of the tournaments and has climbed up the rankings some 100 places, with a career high of 280 in the ITF.
Whilst in India Jay had the good fortune to bump into Tim Henman whilst training in New Delhi and had the opportunity to sit down and have an informal chat with him, about life on tour and his own personal experiences, this was truly inspiring and has motivated Jay further.
Upon returning home this week, Jay has attended the Jaguar Academy of Sports Talent Day at the Manchester BMX Arena. Here he had the opportunity to partake in various workshops covering psychology, sprint sessions, strength sessions and Pilates with Dame Kelly Holmes, who is Jays official mentor for the Jaguar academy.
He also performed a master class with Tim Henman and then helped the other Jaguar athletes in a skills session, offering advice and teaching them a technical skill.
Overall he had a fantastic day, finishing on a high with a session on the bmx track, but the icing on the cake was when Tim asked if he would be able to have some individual sessions with Jay at either Roehampton or Wimbledon and has taken his details to check his diary and his personal assistant will be in touch to confirm. Exciting times!!!
