Exmouth Tennis & Fitness Centre qualified for the Premier 12 & Under national finals by beating Bath, West Hants, Halton and Coombe Dingle convincingly and then Portsmouth in a match tiebreak shoot out in the regional play offs to qualify for the National Finals. The team consisted of Parker Caleshu, Zac Brown, Ben Johnson, Findlay Robertson, Lucas Urquiza and Alfie James Woodger captained by Liam Storey.
On Day 1, in the semi-final Exmouth had a tough loss to eventual winners Sevenoaks. Good performances from all. We lost three of the rubbers on match tiebreaks after being a set and a break up in two of these matches. A 4-1 loss could have easily been a 4-1 win but wasn't to be.
In the third/fourth play-off, Exmouth beat Nuffield, Hull 4-2, with great singles wins from Parker and Findlay. It was 2-2 after singles and then Caleshu and Robertson won a great doubles match and Johnson and Brown who recently won the Grade 2 doubles in Glasgow went on to beat the Hull first pair 0 and 0 to win the match.
A great achievement for Exmouth to finish third in the national finals. It was a great weekend had by all players, parents and coach.
