Ex- Colyton Grammar School student, and member of Seaton Tennis Club, Emma Hurst along with Exmouth's Jack Findel-Hawkins claimed a Gold Medal with their GB team last week at the prestigious Master ‘U BNP Paribas event in Lille - the biggest University team tennis tournament in the world which features the top eight student tennis nations – GB, Germany, Belgium, China, Ireland, France, Russia and the United States.

The GB team smashed China 7-0 in the semi- finals, and then defeated the dominant U.S.A team 4-2 in the finals.  Having won the event for the last six years, Team USA entered the final confident, but proved too weak for Britain’s aces!

World University Games alumni, Emma, who is now in her last year at Bath University,  said, “ The GB team support and positive energy created a great atmosphere to give us the basis for this win”.

Joint GB Team Captain, Barry Scollo also commented, “This is an incredibly proud moment for University tennis in this country. To win gold against the U.S.A with the strongest Collegiate tennis system in the works is an incredible achievement”.
