More mini tennis fun at a County festival

Monday, February 05, 2018

What a fantastic Sunday morning of tennis at Devon’s Mini Tennis Festival in Plymouth.

23 players, nominated by coaches in the South Devon area, all enjoyed a wonderful experience at the Nuffield Health Devonshire Health & Racquets Club. Led by County coaches Tracy Brown (Torquay Tennis club) and Ollie Sharpe (Exmouth Tennis Centre) players aged between 7 & 9 years of age were put through their paces in a fun packed session of red and orange ball tennis which culminated in the most competitive of challenges of ‘Beat the Coach’. The coaches were ably assisted by Roger Froud (Yelverton Tennis Club), Ryan Bougourd (Bovey Tracy Tennis Club) and Devon 18U County player Sam Hopper who all added to the occasion.

Will McNally, Devon’s Junior Performance Co-ordinator, said ‘The enthusiasm and energy of all the players was fantastic and infectious. It was wonderful to see so many keen players wanting to show the coaches what they can do. We hope these festivals will become a regular feature in the calendar as it is a superb opportunity for the County to see the next potential players coming through.’
