"The Flybe Devon and Cornwall Girls Roadshow was the first one to be held in our counties but also the first girls only roadshow nationwide. This obviously applied some pressure to get it right and be a role model for the rest of the country!
We were hoping for 40 players to attend and we counted 86 so it was an amazing turn out. It was great to see so many girls and ladies on court, taking part in many different ways to engage in tennis - cardio tennis workout to music, mini tennis and touch tennis.
We are very grateful to all those who attended and the coaches who helped run the roadshow. The day was packed full of activities and everyone seemed to be having a good time! We hope tennis will be fresh in girls' and ladies’ minds and that they will pick up a racquet in the New Year and give it a try."
The Flybe Devon and Cornwall Girls Roadshow is the first in a programme of activities to encourage new girls into the game and to keep girls engaged in tennis, making sure we have enough girls to enjoy playing and competing. The aim of the LTA, the national governing body for tennis, is to increase participation for all ages and abilities, making tennis affordable.
