Axminster's Emma Hurst and Alex Bond fromTeignmouth were the delighted winners of the 14 & Under Road to Wimbledon County Finals at Ivybridge on the 4th and 5th of July. They will now play in the National finals at Wimbledon from the 16th to 22nd August.
Some 18 clubs across the County held competitions, the wiinners of which qualified through to the County Finals with a prize of the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf of Wimbledon for the eventual champions.
In the semi finals Lewie Parker from North Devon narrowly defeated Exeter's Robbie Leck 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 in the match deciding tie-break game. Alex Bond overcame Oliver Tyrell (Torquay) 6-2,6-4 to earn his place in the final where despite a good fight from Lewie, Alex took the match 6-2, 7-5.
Budleigh Salterton's Isabella Brown defeated Chloe Binmore (Torquay) and Emma defeated North Devon's Tia Sloman to make the final where Emma defeated Isabella 7-5,6-2.
