The South Devon Tennis centre in Ivybridge was the host venue for this year's Vernon Weaver tournament on the 24th July.
In the ladies' semi finals, Exeter Civil Service beat Ivybridge 3-1 whilst Torquay defeated Barnstaple Tarka 33 – 29 on a countback of games. In the Men’s semi finals Barnstaple Tarka beat Ivybridge 4-0 whilst Exeter Civil Service beat Cranford 5-4 on sets. It was nice to see representatives of Devon County’s juniors and veterans on court together in these matches.
The finals were played in the afternoon. In the ladies' event the strong pairing of Kendal Brown and Karen Clark led Torquay to victory for the loss of only 3 games. The overall result was 28-27 on games.
The Men’s Final was also very close and went to a countback on sets (5-4) and was won by Exeter Civil Service.
