The HSBC Road to Wimbledon County Finals took place at the South Devon Tennis Centre, Ivybridge at the weekend.
17 boys and 7 girls qualified for the County Finals through club and school competitions across the County and with the fabulous prize of competing on the All England Club's grass courts in the national Finals at stake, spectators were treated to some fantastic matches.
A see-sawing boys' final between County Cup team-mates Harry Burcham and Taylor Ingham-Hill found them at one set all, both having won 6-2. Tension rose as neither could make headway in the match deciding tie-break until finally Harry held on to take it 13-11.
The girls' final also saw County Cup team-mates competing against each-other. Olga Diavastis got off to a flying start racing to a 3-0 lead but Josie Culliford found her form and pulled it back to 4-4 showing great strength of character. However she couldn't maintain her recovery through the tie-break and Olga went on to win 5-4 4-2.
Harry and Olga can now look forward to 5 days at Wimbledon in August!
