Devon's Over 40s ladies are setting the bar for this season's Veterans Inter County Championships by winning all four of their matches so far with just a final tie against Buckinghamshire to come. Captain Jackie Nesbitt said, " If we win our last match we will make it to the National finals with a shot at our third title! Unfortunately our last match isn't until September so we have a bit of a wait."
The impressive team of Jackie Nesbitt, Jo Louis, Pippa Britton, Sue Wiltshire and Karen Clark have so far beaten Hertfordshire 4-1, Surrey 5-0, Kent 4-1 and Lincolnshire 3-2.
The ladies Over 50s started their campaign away at Hereford & Worcestershire playing in the lovely setting of the Malvern Hills. The match was close with one of the singles coming down to a tight tie-break but Devon took the match 3-2.
Our Over 75 men's team had a home tie at the Exmouth Tennis & Leisure Centre where they played host to Dorset. The result of 3-1 to Dorset was not a true reflection of the match in which 3 of the rubbers went to a deciding third set championship tie break of which only one went Devon's way unfortunately.
