For Sidmouth Tennis Club, the installation of floodlights is another step along the development pathway that was put in place some 4 years ago.
At that time, with only 39 members and no juniors, the club recognised that changes were needed to help it thrive and the committee approached the LTA for advice. The club has since worked incredibly hard to put in place the suggestions received and now has a coach, a thriving junior section, increased membership, has achieved Tennis Clubmark and now adds new floodlights too.
A spokesperson for the club said, "This is a significant step forward for the club which will help in many ways – increasing effective court time, allowing additional coaching availability and helping to attract new members. The final step in the funding process was the award of a financial grant from the LTA and we are most grateful to them for their support."
The gala evening featured the official switch on of the lights, exhibition matches, open tennis for all ages/abilities and refreshments.
