Devon's Isabella Brown and Rachel Williams defeated all comers to take the 14 & Under and 18 & Under titles respectively at the Ivybridge Half Term Grade 3 tournament.
The boys' 14 & Under final was an all Hampshire event seeing a closely fought match between Joe Weatherall and James Salter finally being decided in Joe's favour by a tense match tie break, 11-9.
Toby MItchell (Somerset) took both the 16 & Under and 18 & Under titles, defeating Cornwall's Ben Ward in the 16s and Devon's Rob knight in the 18s, overcoming a great second set fightback from Rob.
Anna Southam from Birmingham defeated Isabella Brown to win the 16 & Under singles and also made the 18 & Under final where she lost to Rachel Williams.
Devon players enjoyed doubles success. Ryan Colmer and Rob Knight took the 18 & Under boys doubles, defeating Rhys Dunford and Matt Whittam 11-9 in the deciding tie break. Lara Graney and Rachel Williams overcame Imogen Harry (Cornwall) and Megan Richmond-Morris (S. Wales) in the 18 & Under girls doubles.
Referee Janet Richardson said, "The attitude and behaviour of players throughout the week has been exemplary with matches played in a good spirit of competition and enjoyment. It has been particularly satisfying to see such a healthy girls entry. In 2002 when I first ran this tournament, then a grade 4, we had a total of 6 girls, this year we have 40, almost a 700% rise!"
