Jack Findel-Hawkins, 18, From Exmouth, has been named LTA AASE Apprentice of the Year for being the best member of a programme which combines playing tennis with written exams and projects.  He will be presented with his award at the at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals on Monday, 4th November.

Jack won the award on the back of a stellar year on the court, which saw him achieve his first ATP World Ranking points.

Jack’s father Simon Findel-Hawkins said: “It’s nice after all these years to get Jack noticed, as he’s had a fantastic year, achieved great things, been British number one for three or four years, and all while doing A-levels and studying, which if you look at the others in that position I don’t think there are any that aren’t full-time tennis players.”

Winning the award gets Jack, a former pupil at Exmouth Community College, an invite to the awards ceremony at the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2.

However, he will have to decline this as he has now started a tennis scholarship at the University of North Florida.
