Rackets on the fence

The men's over 65 team got off to a great start with a win against Dorset in their first home fixture.  This was a closely contested match with both Ken Jones and Chris Hill narrowly losing their singles on a tie-breakbut the doubles pairing of Bernard Mowle and Ray Hinton were in impressive form and led the way in the doubles rubbers giving Devon a 3-2 win.

The away match against Bedfordshire saw a reversal of fortunes. The Beds team had two very accomplished singles players in Norman Church and Terry Mabbitt proving too strong for Devon's Mel Kirby and Ken Jones and also showing a similar talent for doubles.  Devon were able to secure two doubles matches to finish the match 2-3 down.

Playing at Swindon the team achieved a solid win against Wiltshire taking the tie 5-0.  All rests now on the last fixture due to be played on the 16th.
