World-class tennis returns to Bournemouth on Sunday April 21 as the Aegon GB Pro-Series heads outdoors to the West Hants Club.
Spectators can catch the action, which runs from the 21
Brighton-based Jade Windley is back to defend her title she won last year and is the highest ranked player in the women’s draw of the $10,000 clay event.
22-year-old Windley is at a career high of 434
th in the world and another win here would see her continue her rise up the world rankings.
Former British No.4 Alexander Slabinsky leads the local interest in the men’s draw along with Andrew Fitzpatrick and Dan Cox while a strong international challenge will be led by Swede Patrik Rosenholm and former junior World No.1 Jason Kubler.
"It’s great to back in Bournemouth for the opening event of the outdoor Aegon GB Pro-Series calendar," said Tournament Director Richard Joyner.
"2012 saw Oliver Golding, the reigning US Open Junior Champion, win his first professional singles title at the West Hants Club beating Andy Fitzpatrick, who is returning to Bournemouth after recent back to back doubles titles in Vietnam.
"It’s also great to see Jade returning to defend her title in the women’s singles. With the action being free to spectators it really is a great chance to see some of the up and coming pro’s at close hand."
Qualifying begins on the 21
st before the main draw gets underway on the 23rd. The men’s doubles final is set to take place on April 26, women’s doubles and men’s singles on April 27 and women’s singles on April 28.
