The team of Matt Coombes (Capt), Andy Phillips, Graham Hobbs, Lee Sabin and Brett Townsend gained promotion to Group 1 of the Over 35 Inter County Cup at Devonshire Park, Eastbourne 2nd-4th August. They achieved this with 3 great wins over much bigger counties, East of Scotland 4-1, Middlesex 4-1 and Surrey 3-0. Matt and Andy were in top form remaining unbeaten during the competition in both singles and doubles and without dropping a set, this was an even greater achievement as they were competing against players up to 11 years younger. Graham, Lee and Brett combined for the remaining doubles rubbers, so it was an excellent all round team performance.
Next year they will be competing against Leicestershire, Hertfordshire and Berkshire for the national title which they last won in 2008 and 2009.
