Dorset’s Toby Samuel was part of the lucky few in the South West Performance Team who were taken to Wimbledon for the middle-Saturday of the championships.
The group were given a tour of the whole site as well as being shown around Centre Court before the start of the day’s play. Samuel was only one of two under 12 players in the team, with the rest being from the under 9 age group.
Whilst the day is sure to be one Samuel will remember for years to come, one particular experience may well stand out. The team were given the exclusive opportunity to play on courts 5-7 before the start of play before meeting some of the professional players and receiving some autograph souvenirs.
The group’s visit to SW19 will be all the more memorable after Andy Murray’s victory eight days after their trip, during which they spent time around the court that the Brit made history on in the final.
