The under 10 Dorset county girls team, Mirsha Hobbs, Natalie Carter, Millie Smythe and Emma Dawson travelled to Bromley for the weekend. Playing in some very extreme conditions the girls had a tough first box match against Surrey. Millie Smythe started the day well with a good win at 3, unfortunately the girls were unable to gain any other rubbers despite some good performances, eventually losing 3-1. In the next match they played Hampshire, Emma Dawson coming in at number 3 won her singles as did Mirsha Hobbs, Natalie unfortunately lost a very close singles in the 3rd set tie break. Going into the doubles 2-1 up the girls just lost leaving the score 2-2. A match Tie break was to decide the winners, Natalie and Mirsha stepped up their game and won the decider, meaning we made the semis the following day.
With the weather slightly brighter we began the Sunday with our semi final against Sussex. Millie Smythe and Mirsha Hobbs won there singles, we went into the doubles 2 -1 up. Mirsha and Natalie played another fantastic doubles winning a very tight match meaning that Dorset had made it to the final.
In the final we had Surrey, the team we had just lost to on the first day. Millie Smythe again won a great singles. Unfortunately Natalie and Mirsha were unable to win there singles against some very tough opposition, we went into the doubles 2-1 down, Natalie and Mirsha played a fantastic match narrowly losing in a tie break 3rd set.
Dorset finished 2nd over the weekend. All the girls played some fantastic tennis and worked really hard, they showed some great team spirit and they were a pleasure to captain.
