On the opening day of Wimbledon this year James Deem nominated Victoria Avenue LTC to receive special ground passes for six children and two coaches. Despite getting caught in the usual London traffic the party made it to the grounds and they were taken on a whistle-stop tour of the Museum, Centre Court, the Stringing Room and the practice courts. The children were amazed as they spotted Rafael Nadal practicing along with ……………………. Amelie Mauresmo was there as well. On walking through Wimbledon Jo Wilfred Tsonga was kind enough to give his autograph to one of our juniors. Great fun and amusement was had in the Just Play area – Neil’s serve speed was recorded at 12.6 mph – surely a record for the slowest serve at Wimbledon this year! It was a great day – the last moments spent on Henman Hill watching the latest match ever played with Djokavic triumphant in the end. A big thank you to James – it’s a day the children will remember for a long long time.
