On Wednesday 18th April, The Dorset School Games Leadership Academy gathered every Middle / Secondary school in Dorset in one place to promote leadership in sport. The role was to deliver the Tennis Leaders 'Core Module' to 50+ students over 2 sessions, although the weather was unpredictable the sessions where well received and students took a lot of information home with them, including how to set up Mini Red Tennis nets and courts, how to set up and take a warm up also later on they had to organise a set of 3 drills and control a small group of 5 peers.
Most students have not come from a tennis background which not only gave them another sport to think about but surprised themselves on how much they picked up and learnt over the basic module, this amazing experience will encourage them to take tennis further either to take the additional modules to become a fully qualified Tennis Leader maybe lead back at their school environment and even at a local place to play!
A great day had by all!
