Bournemouth-based school Talbot Heath girl’s school is celebrating another set of victories for its nationally-renowned Tennis teams.
Having finished the 2011 Girls national rankings in second place, just 18 points behind Hertfordshire’s Queenswood School, they will be looking to reach top spot by completing another successful season.
In the South-West knockout stages of AEGON Team Tennis Schools competition, Talbot Heath’s year 8s took on St.Swithun’s School, Winchester, for a place in the South West Quarter finals. The match saw Talbot Heath find the kind of form which led them to the National finals of last year’s competition and they promptly won the match 12-0 to progress.
The year 10 squad experienced an equally straight-forward time in their knockout stage after a 12-0 win over King Edward VI School from Hampshire. The Talbot Heath team’s place in the South West Quarter finals was then sealed without them having to hit a ball in their second knockout match. Their opponents Royal High School Bath were unable to fulfil the fixture and the match was awarded to Talbot Heath as a 12-0 result.
The AEGON Team Tennis Schools competition has been very profitable of late for Dorset schools and the county will be hoping for more of the same again this year.
(The South West Quarter finals take place on the 15th and 16th of November)
