2nd Touch Tennis Competition In North East!

Monday, August 06, 2012

The second Touch Tennis competition is coming to the North East after the success of the first one last month.

Touch Tennis is a modified version of the full game for adults and is played on smaller courts with smaller rackets and sponge balls. This means that it's easier for novices to play, but also fantastic fun for experienced tennis players. It uses a whole different set of tactics to win matches, and relies a lot on the 'touch' of the player because it's very hard to out-power your opponent!

The first competition in the area was played at Belle Vue Leisure Centre in Durham and was a huge success. Therefore, the 'Churchill touchtennis Open' is coming to Northumberland this time, and will be held at Tennis @ Churchill (Churchill Community College, Wallsend) on Sunday 19th August.

Absolutely any adult can enter - we had a great mix of abilities at the last event and some surprise outcomes! If you are interested in entering, please click here and enter tournament code NTB12S1036. You must have a British Tennis Membership number to enter and also be a registered member of Touch Tennis. You can register for and find out more about touch tennis here.
