Four of Britain’s top tennis players and two of the country’s most passionate volunteers have been confirmed as Olympic Torchbearers for the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay - and Tennis Dennis is one of them!
Dennis Laycock, from Lanchester Tennis Club (or Tennis Dennis, as he is fondly known), has been awarded with the prestigious task of carrying the Olympic Torch on 16 June between Gateshead and Durham.
Dennis's van, as seen in the picture, shows just how committed he is to tennis in his community - he's added the mini tennis stripes to it!
Dennis joins a host of fantastic tennis personalities in his Olympic Torch quest, which highlights just how amazing it is that he was chosen. The others who are carrying the flame include:
Conor Keohane: 29 May in Chester
Peter Norfolk: 1 June in Liverpool
Dennis Laycock:16 June between Gateshead and Durham
Elena Baltacha: 19 July in St Peters, Kent
Andy Murray: 23 July in Merton
Oli Golding: 24 July in Richmond-Upon-Thames
Best of luck to Tennis Dennis - we know he'll be amazing!
