David Lloyd Teesside's 7th Mini Red League came to a conclusion at the beginning of February and the season has been spectacular!
With a total of 6 teams from across Tees Valley the 40 players who represented their Clubs did fantasically well and played in great spirit throughout the 6 months of competition. The teams included David Lloyd Teesside Dynamos and Blitzers, Tennis World Tigers and Red Team, Annes Aces (Yarm) and Eldon Grove Eagles.
The idea of the leagues has always been for the young players to have fun and is a great start to their tennis journey's. With these 2 principles this years league didn't disappoint. All of the players improved over the winter season, with feet getting faster, serves getting more consistent and most importantly smiles getting wider!
In total there were 232 mini red matches played, which is awesome for the young players because it gives them the experience of putting into practice what their coaches and clubs have been teaching them in their lessons!
The final fixture date proved to show how close all the teams are because the organisers had to wait until all the matches had finished to enter the results into the computer! Following a tense moment the eventual winners were David Lloyd Teesside Dynamos with only 2 points the difference between themselves and Tennis World Tigers. All the results can be found here.

"Can I first say how proud I am of all the players. They all came with the biggest smiles on their faces and as an organiser makes me so happy to know they are enjoying these wonderful experiences. I must also thank the volunteers (Matthew Harkin, Melissa Lowe, Samantha Cornelius, Victoria Cornelius, Alex Cornelius, Mia and Kristan Lamb from Tennis World, Ketan from Eldon Grove along with a number of parents who helped), who without them we simply could not run the leagues. This year has been another highlight for everyone involved and we wish everyone well with the up coming summer season!"
