The 10&U Girls County Cup took place at Chatsworth Tennis Centre, Carlisle on the 1st and 2nd of June 2013.
Captain, Christine Heppell, sent in this report about the weekend;
"In near perfect weather conditions the Durham and Cleveland team of Cara Todd, Liv Clark, Farah Yossry and Ellie Tweddle performed well throughout the weekend.
"In the first match against the South of Scotland the Durham and Cleveland team won 8-0. Then in the second match on the Saturday, against the North of Scotland, both Cara and Liv played good consistent tennis to win their respective singles. Farah lost a close singles match against the 3rd seed, with Cara and Liv then teaming up once again to win the doubles.
"On the Sunday the team were on court early for a good warm up, ready to take on a strong West of Scotland team. All of the girls played with much more confidence and authority on court, with Cara losing a close match (10-6) in the 3rd set match tiebreak and Liv, who was hitting with much more depth and pace than the day before, managing to clinch her match (10-8) in the 3rd set tiebreak. Unfortunately, the team ended up losing the whole match, and then went on to play the North of Scotland again for the 3rd/4th play-off. Ellie Tweddle played some good solid tennis to win her singles and then teamed up with Farah to win a close doubles 4-2, 4-2.
"Despite strong competition from the opposing teams, the Durham and Cleveland girls finished 3rd overall, which was an excellent result. Well done to all of the team."
