The Mini Winter Leagues hosted by David Lloyd Teesside concluded last month with victories for Yarm’s Mini Red Team and David Lloyd’s Mini Orange Team.
Yarm dominated the Mini Red league, winning all their matches by a margin of at least 10 rubbers to 6. The same four players turned out each fixture for Yarm and showed great attitude and team spirit – Thomas Payne, Liam Green, Ben English and Francesca Simpson. All the players had good wins throughout the winter, particularly Thomas Payne who won 21 out of his 24 matches.
In second place in the Mini Red league was David Lloyd Teesside A Team, who lost only 2 fixtures both to Yarm, but put in some dominating performances against Tennis World and David Lloyd Teesside B Team.
David Lloyd Teesside took the crown in the Mini Orange League with victories over Yarm, David Lloyd Teesside B, Eldon Eagles and a walkover over Tennis World. Seven different players represented the team – Jack Bell, James Bell, Noah Bickenson, Ewan Cornwall, Eleanor McCardle, Jack Thompson and Chloe Quartley. Strong performances from Jack, Ewan and Noah meant they were unbeaten in the league this winter, with Jack winning 9 out of 9 rubbers, and Ewan and Noah both winning 6 out of 6.
In second place were Tennis World, whose only loss was the match conceded to David Lloyd Teesside A. Joseph Dixon, Tennis Worlds number 2 player also managed an impressive record, winning 9 out of 9 rubbers.
