On Saturday 15th March 2014, Tennis World Middlesbrough will play host to a fantastic Family Fun Day welcoming people of all ages and abilities to try tennis!
Families will be greeted and shown to the cafe bar by friendly event volunteers from 4:30pm and then invited on court at 5:00pm. For two hours families will get a chance to try their skills on the Tennis Factory, which is a range of fun activities including learning to rally, hitting over a mini net with a partner or coach and aiming a ball through a target. Families will also get a chance to play mini tennis with a coach who will offer tips to help progress skills and then have the chance to play against one another!
Staff and coaches from Tennis World, along with volunteers from the North East Visually Impaired Tennis Club will be on hand on the day to answer questions and signpost people to more local opportunities.
The family fun event will conclude in the cafe bar where special awards will be given for a 'Fantastic Forehand', 'Brilliant Backhand', 'Fabulous Footwork', 'Super Serve' and 'Top Teamwork.'
At the same time families and spectators will be able to watch a visually impaired tennis competition on the adjacent court. The VI competition will showcase some local adult players competing against each other, which will be truly inspiring to see.
Rosie Pybus who is heading up the event expressed her excitement;
“We are very excited for this year’s event and following on from the success of last year we hope to be able to allow even more of the community to enjoy the diverse range of fun activities tennis has to offer.”
