The girls and I set off on our journey to Stourbridge by train, early on the Saturday morning. 6 teams were put into 2 separate groups, Durham and Cleveland being drawn with Essex and Staffordshire.
We started the weekend with doubles against a very strong Essex team with both pairs making the matches very competitive. Cara and Farah lost 6-3 7-6 and Lydia and Grace lost 6-2 6-2. We then finished off the fixture against Essex on the Sunday morning. All girls competed brilliantly but fell short of a win, loosing the fixture 6-0.
In the afternoon, we played Staffordshire. Lydia and Grace went off to a quick start winning both singles matches, putting the team 2-0 up. Up next, Ellie and cara went on for their singles with Ellie increasing the teams win with a 6-1 6-2 win over their number 2 player. Cara put up a great fight against a strong number 1 player but just falling short 6-0 7-6. We were now 3-1 up going into the doubles. Ellie and Farah won 6-4 6-3 extending the lead. cara and Lydia secured the final result by winning 6-1 6-1. We came 2nd in out group. Unfortunately due to weather, we didn't get to play our final match against Derbyshire for 3rd or 4th position.
A great weekend had by all!
