Thursday 7th July saw 72 Year 4 children all come together at Sunderland Tennis Centre to take part in the Tyne & Wear School Games Final. The tennis activity was one of multiple sports and a cracking opening ceremony which would have fit right into place at the Rio Olympics this year!
In the Year 4 tennis event, 9 schools from across Tyne & Wear, with 8 players in a team, played a massive 128 matches played – all in great spirit. These matches were all overseen by our brilliant Leaders from Farringdon High School. The players all did themselves and their schools credit, and worked their socks off.
In the end, we had to get a winner, and the results were:
Bronze – Springwell Village (Sunderland)
Silver – Newbottle (Sunderland)
Gold – Cullercoats (North Tyneside)
Alongside the Year 4 event was also a Secondary Schools Inclusive event who also played matches against each other. Southlands School came out the winner in this event, and a massive well done to everyone who competed!
