We travelled to Grantham on the Friday and after a long journey caused by a couple of traffic delays, when we finally arrived the rain was heavy so no practice on Friday.
Day One
Morning match V Yorkshire
A very tough start to the weekend playing Yorkshire and Lancashire on day one.
1st match was our number 3 Erin v Gabriella Lindley, which was a tough one for a very nervous Erin, after her sloppy start Erin fought back and was unlucky not to take the second set. Result 0-4 2-4
2nd Match was our number 2 Lydia v Millie Skelton, Lydia came up against a very good and confident opponent but fought very hard for every point. Result 1-4 1-4
3rd Match was our Number 1 Cheri v Savannah Dada-Mascoll, a repeat of last year’s match when these two played was a much closer match with these two fab players splitting sets but Cheri just didn't quite have enough to get a win against the National 12 U winner. Result 1-4 4-1 0-1. Great effort Cheri.
The doubles pair was Sara and Lydia who played against their top two players, and did really well and played some great tennis. Result 0-4 1-4
Day One
Afternoon match v Lancashire
1st match was our number 3 Sara who played a difficult match in the rain against Lucy Jane Cunliffe where the first set was so close but just didn't go our way. Result 3-5 1-4
2nd match was our number 2 Lydia v Ema Lodererova, this match was played inside and Lydia came up against a very tall and talented player who Lydia made work very hard throughput the match. Result 0-4 1-4
3rd match, was our number 1 Cheri v Hannah Dazley which was also played inside and after losing the first set against a very good player Cheri fought back and took the second set and then was rewarded for her great tennis with a great win. Result 0-4 4-0 1-0
Our doubles pair was Cheri and Erin who played against their top two players, Cheri and Erin were so close having a couple of set points in the first set and just lost the second by one break of service. Result 4-5 1-4
Day Two
Morning match v Derbyshire
1st match was our number 3 Erin v Sharifa Olatejy, a tough match in very slippy conditions and Erin had a bad fall in the first set but continued to give 100% for every point. Result 1-4 2-4
2nd match was our number 2 Lydia v Chantal Griffths, two tight sets for this match although the score doesn't reflect that in the first set score. Lydia had a couple of good chances in the second set to level the sets score, but her opponent played some clutch points. Result 1-4 4-5
3rd match was our number 1 Cheri v Laura Monk, Cheri was just too strong for her opponent from Derbyshire and played some startling winners! Result 4-2 4-1
Libby came in for her debut in the doubles with her sister for this match, the played a great match with some super tennis but were edged out in the third set tiebreaker. Result 0-4 4-2 0-1
Afternoon match v Cheshire
1st match was our number 3 Erin v Laura Wedd, this one a great fought contest by two committed players. Result 1-4 5-4 0-1
2nd match was our number 2 Lydia v Jemma Cave, another nervous start from Lydia but with great effort and some great effort wins a tight 3 set match. Well deserved after some fab tennis played by Lydia over the weekend. Result 1-4 5-4 1-0
3rd match was our number 1 v Alice Shields, I think by this point Cheri was tired after all her efforts in her previous matches. Cheri played some lights out tennis over the weekend and will be missed next year. Result 1-4 4-5
Our doubles pair was Sara and Erin who came up against a confident pair playing some great tennis, the girls just came up short. Result 0-4 0-4
Long tough weekend for the girls, but we had plenty of laughs, and hopefully some good memories for all that played and watched.
