Tuesday, November 14, 2017

3 clubs in the North have landed a financial bonus from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) thanks to their members joining the British Tennis Team Membership scheme.

The new British Tennis Team Membership package which was launched in May, offers tennis players and fans exclusive benefits as well as the opportunity to support the sport they love as profits from the scheme are reinvested in grassroots tennis. For just £20 a year for adults and £10 for juniors, Team Members are served first with priority tickets, competitions, discounts and much more. Earlier this year junior team member Lilia Monks, from Doncaster won the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform the coin toss for a match at the Aegon Classic between former world number 2, Petra Kvitova and Lucie Safarova thanks to her Team Membership.

Clubs across the North were tasked with supporting and promoting the scheme to their members. As a thank you venues had the opportunity to win a cash bonus of between £500 and £2000 to reinvest in their own venue through the LTA’s Venue Incentive Scheme. Upton Victory Hall Tennis Club in Cheshire as well as Wakefield & Oakfield Tennis Clubs in Yorkshire all smashed through their membership targets and will receive a financial reward to improve, upgrade or renovate the social areas of their clubs.

Paul Bennett, LTA Head of Region in the North said

It is fantastic to see our clubs and players in the North getting behind our new Team Membership. The cash bonuses will go towards improving the social areas and facilities of the clubs themselves so the members will feel the direct benefit of their Team Membership’.

Thousands of people have already joined Team Membership and are taking advantage of the benefits, whilst supporting the growth of tennis in the UK’ explained Rachel Porsz, Membership Manager at the LTA. ‘Currently members can choose to support the development of tennis opportunities for young people and disabled people or our Tennis for Free programme which is dedicated to providing free tennis on people’s doorsteps’.

The Venue Incentive Scheme will run until 31st December 2017 giving even more clubs the chance to win. There are 275 cash prizes on offer for clubs of all sizes who meet their targets number of members. For more information on British Tennis Team Membership visit: www.lta.org.uk/member.
