We are pleased to report that currently 23 clubs in the County have taken advantage of the AE Grant offer towards the cost of purchasing the iPAD AED defibrillator.

The first of the Essex ladies invitational singles events was held at
Redbridge Sports and Leisure on Sunday and Monday 15th and16th May. The event was organised by Melanie Holmes,  the selection committee and financially supported entirely by Essex Tennis.

The 6th Annual Mini Tournament took place once  again at Theydon Bois Tennis Club – a hugely popular tournament with children and adults alike occasion!

 

Matches are played, won and lost every week. What is unique with this story however is the way in which everyone rallied together to support this one team through its evolution from leisure play in a park to competing within the Essex Tennis Men’s League.

The Essex Boys Team had a successful weekend and secured second place. This event consisted of five counties, Essex, Middlesex, Berkshire, Oxford and the Channel Islands.

A great weekend was had by all with Essex taking third place behind Middlesex and Oxfordshire.  The Essex team was represented by  Grace Leigh, Ananya Vartak, Kayleigh Hale, Iman Khan along with  travelling reserve Azra Ozerin.

The Essex  girls won through to the national finals of the U12 girls county cup in emphatic style over this last weekend.  The team was made up of Annali Ollivelle, Arabella Moen, Ahslie Hale, Eleanor Baglow and Abigail Michelow.

 

The Essex Winter Series Finals are the result of some 30 1 day ratings events played indoors during the winter. This year the finals took place on the weekend of 26/27 April.

Blazing sunshine was the order of the weekend for Redbridge Sports Centre 2 day junior grade 4 tournament.                  

 

As a result of the thriving tennis programme, The Deanes Indoor Tennis Team are now looking to expand by recruiting an additional tennis coach.

"Our GBTW was superb. We decided to make it a 1-day event and put EVERYTHING into it. The whole club rallied together. We had over 50 guests and offered them free coaching throughout the day."

The attempt for the largest Tennis lesson went really well this year. We had over 160 people taking part of all ages and ability.

Essex regained the boys top spot winning the final 5.1 against Herts.Strength in depth was the key and it was a great team effort.

Essex Men prepared for the County Week over the weekend in the Leo Lyle Championship played at Thorpe Bay LTC.

Two Essex Players have clinched the girls U12 Doubles title in the Scottish Junior National Championships Grade 2 event narrowly missed the Singles title also. 

The Government has announced the expansion of the Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) tax relief scheme, which could benefit a further 40,000 grassroots sports clubs across the UK. In addition tax free limits for earnings from club bars, cafes and venue hire will also be raised.

Big Congratulations to Ashlie, Arabella,Annali and Abigail  for a fantastic 3rd place in the U12 County Cup National Finals at Bolton. They beat Avon and Yorkshire before losing to a strong Warwickshire team and finally beating Lancs to take third place.  

 

The Essex Finals of the HSBC Road to Wimbledon were held over three weekends at Redbridge. A total of 21 clubs entered.

Please be advised that as a result of the recent LTA reorganisation, the Essex Tennis Office will now be open from from 10 am – 2 pm Monday to Thursday.

Today we said a sad farewll to Helen Offord.  Helen has worked in the Essex Tennis Office for the past two years and has been a popular member of staff. 

Essex U9 County Cup Team had a great day's tennis finishing in fourth place. Also in their group were Surrey, Kent and Sussex.
