County team: Seth Price, James Holden, James Elliott, Aaron Osmond
On day one we faced our toughest challenges – Hertfordshire and Middlesex. We knew these teams were strong and that we had to be on top form.
James Elliott and James Holden lost, but Seth Price won a fantastic match, keeping Gloucestershire in the running. We needed to win the doubles to take it to a tie break shoot out. Seth and James Holden then went on the play a fantastic doubles match against Herts, winning 4-1 5-3. The boys then played the tie break shoot out, and once again played some fantastic tennis to win the match.
Our next challenge was Middlesex. The boys all tried really hard and remained positive, despite losing their singles matches. Middlesex then went on to win the event.
Day two began with Gloucestershire vs Buckinghamshire. James Elliott started brilliantly, winning his match against Finlay Barrett 5-4 4-0. James Holden played well but lost his match. Seth also played an excellent match, winning 4-2 4-1. Gloucestershire then went on to win the doubles, with James Holden and Seth Price playing fantastically well.
The last team we were up against was Oxfordshire. Aaron Osmond, James Holden and Seth Price all won their singles. Aaron and James then played a brilliant doubles match, winning the match and beating Oxfordshire 8-0 over-all.
With Middlesex winning against all the other teams, it put us in second place over-all. We were still really pleased to be second in such a tough group of counties, and the boys really worked hard to get to this position. It was very well deserved!
