The County School Games tennis finals took place at Oxstalls Sports Park on Wednesday 19th June. The morning saw the years 1 & 2 players battle it out with some very close matches. The result of the round robin tournament saw Gloucester district Champions, Dinglewell Infants win the County event losing just 2 matches.

The afternoon saw 12 teams come and compete at the years 3 & 4 finals, there was a greater range of schools from Gloucestershire competing for the trophy. There were some fantastic rallies particularly in the later stages of the competition – Murray & Robson stars in the making!
The 3 way final between Churchdown Village Juniors (current holders), Leckhampton Primary and Redmarley Primary schools was nail biting but Leckhampton Primary clinched the county title winning 5 out of the 6 matches

There was a fabulous atmosphere on the finals day with amazing rallies and very close matches. All the children should be very proud of their achievements. The standard of this age group has improved greatly over the last couple of years.
“There have been fantastic level of support & tennis within the county this year a record with 54 schools, 103 teams & 414 children competing at their local Level 2 tennis festival” says Helen Stevens, Tennis Development Officer for Aspire Sports & Cultural Trust. “This is all thanks to the local coaches & clubs encouraging schools & their teachers to enter teams, and to the teachers & parents for enabling them to organise time out of school to represent their school. It’s a wonderful achievement by all”
