Hugo (Left) and Sam (Right)

Chalford Tennis Club has just awarded Bursaries to two of its most talented juniors, Sam Collings and Hugo Stengard-Green.

Both the boys are having coaching at Chalford with Charlie Crisp, who won 2011 Coach of the Year in the Stroud Sport & Physical Activity Awards.

The Club introduced the Bursaries last year, and they will be awarded annually to juniors who have made outstanding progress or shown real talent. Hugo, 14, has been playing tennis for a few years but started competing seriously last Autumn and has risen steadily up the county rankings. Sam, 10, is a real newcomer to the sport; he only joined the club last August but is already showing natural ability and a real dedication to tennis, and is regularly representing Chalford in tournaments.

The boys each received £250 from the club. “We wanted to show our support for the hard work Hugo and Sam, and their parents, are putting into their sport,” says Club Chair Sarah Lingard. “We are delighted to have such talented juniors at Chalford and wish them every success in the future.”
