Steven Wigg is a coach at Oxtalls Sports Park, where he delivers the Mini Red, Orange, Green and Junior Development and Performance programmes seeing over a 100 children weekly. Alongside this Steven runs adult beginners and improvers sessions as well as Cardio Tennis, short tennis for over 50’s and social sessions.
Outside of Oxtalls Sports Park Steven Wigg has taken tennis into 11 primary schools seeing over 680 children from reception to year three. He has also run 2 LTA teacher training courses, giving the skills to 42 teachers to be able carry out tennis classes at their schools.
Oxtalls Sports Park’s Tennis Performance Officer Darren Morris said: “Steve's commitment and dedication to delivering the best coaching session every time he steps on court is exceptional. His dedication to increasing tennis participation has driven numbers through the centre but also retaining players for many years so that they get hooked on the game for life.”

"I’ve been coaching at Oxstalls Sports Park in Gloucester since I left University (going on 6 years now) and we are going from strength to strength, a highlight winning British Tennis Club of the Year in 2011.
"It is the huge variety that I enjoy about my job but it is also the immense reward you get from seeing a 5 year old hit the ball for the first time, a player competing in their first match or someone coming in having dusted off their racket and rediscovering their love for our sport.
"One thing that stands out to me is the work we have done with the local schools in Gloucester. This year I’ve worked with 11 primary schools, seeing 25 classes totalling 697 children and also 1 secondary school, Gloucestershire College and the University of Gloucestershire.
"I hope to continue improving as a coach and also to further the development of Oxstalls Sports Park!"
