After several months of competition, the Gloucestershire Senior County Closed drew to a conclusion over the weekend of 26th and 27th September at the Gloucestershire Health and Racquets Club. The competition which returned last year, after a 3 year break, has been contested for over 100 years.
Gloucestershire LTA President Mary Eyre MBE showed her support of the event, in which she won the Ladies Singles title 60 years ago, by watching the majority of the events on the Sunday and presenting the trophies to the winners and runners up. Dan Cosgrove, Tennis Development Manager for Gloucestershire LTA said “It was a very special moment seeing Mary present the trophy to this years Ladies Singles winner having won the very same event back in 1949. We hope to get the Senior County Closed event firmly in the players’ diary and that the event gathers more and more interest over the coming years”.
