This year begun with a 2 court club limited to day light play. Thanks to a last minute grant from LTA, just before our planning expired, and installation of lights, we find ourselves offering a 12 month facility for increased play for all members. This particularly benefits our juniors, who were limited in court time due to school hours impinging on their tennis time!
Another benefit will be the opportunity to play LTA league matches on our own courts, this autumn/winter. Something we have not been able to do since entering the leagues. Following the men’s doubles, summer winning league success this year, more players are signing up for entry. Could be two teams for ’14 season! Our ladies held their own & are gearing for mixed doubles LTA league this autumn/winter & ladies doubles again in ’14.
With greater hours available to juniors and therefore numbers of skilled juniors in the club, we have opened the internal tournaments, to the up and coming juniors. Indeed the men’s singles has been won by our brightest star, who came through the ranks to the very top.
More challenges for all in 2014 to take full advantage of the LTA support for our tennis club.
