The LTA and Tennis Foundation this week agreed to release funds to support the growth of tennis at Lymington Tennis Club, New Milton Tennis Club & Brockenhurst Tennis Club.
The Club’s will receive support over the next two years to start new coaching sessions aimed at introducing new adults and juniors to the game in the form of free introductory sessions, as well as outreach work to local schools and even introduce new infant and parent tennis coaching sessions. There are also exciting plans to start Cardio Tennis at the Club, with local people being able to access an aerobic based tennis class aimed at those wishing to get fit and have fun on court.
Andy Trott, Tennis Development Officer for the South West said
“This funding will give the coaching team from Lymington the opportunity to offer an array of free and affordable tennis opportunities to adults and juniors across the New Forest. The new cardio tennis sessions and free adult racket incentive are examples of alternative routes in to the sport to reach out to a broader base of players in an attempt to highlight the benefits of playing this wonderful sport.“
The Club have received funding after they were awarded AEGON Beacon Accreditation earlier this year in recognition of their ability to offer free and affordable tennis to the local community. The accreditation is only awarded to community focussed sites such as Lymington and New Milton, who are committed to working with the LTA to increase participation in tennis.
