Congratulations to David Chiswell who received the LTA Meritorious Service Award!
The LTA Meritorious Service Award recognises those people who have given outstanding voluntary service to British Tennis over a number of years. This year there were six people across the Country who were chosen to receive their award at the LTA AGM earlier this month.
David Chiswell was awarded the LTA Meritorious Service Award following his significant contribution to tennis both at club and county level.
Between 2004 and 2013, David has overseen a complete transformation of Denmead Tennis Club. This has involved resurfacing all three courts, a new clubhouse and floodlighting for all courts.
Today, Denmead boasts over 300 British Tennis Members, and 132 regularly competing juniors. Denmead was awarded Clubmark status in 2009 and Beacon status in 2010.
David also has a long record of service within the County. He was Secretary of the East Hants Tennis League for 20 years, has been a member of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Council since 2005 and was a member of the Management Committee from 2007 to 2012.
David has always shown huge enthusiasm and commitment. He is greatly respected for his integrity and the unassuming way he undertakes all that he does.
David will step down from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Council at the end of 2014 and will be greatly missed.
