Gosport Tennis Academy

Gosport Tennis Academy’s new tennis programme at Alverstoke Tennis Club proved to be an outstanding success with their open day on 17th January bringing in the crowds. The town’s mayor was there to open the proceedings which were started by an exhibition match between two, 9 & Under National Talent Identified children, Ryan Hutchinson (Hedge End) and Wilson Neaves (Portchester). Children enjoyed free tennis coaching sessions and prizes as well as trying out squash and badminton.

Head Coach Dave Buzzard commented, “The day has been a huge success, and we were so pleased to see so many people enjoying themselves playing tennis in the sun, after all the snow!”

“Our new programme plus fantastic new junior membership packages means that we can provide tennis for all of the community at an affordable price, without compromising quality.”

Adults were also given free tips and advice on tennis and squash and encouraged to participate in some of the brand new Sport Hampshire & IOW funded sessions, ‘Return to Sport’.

Simon Johnson, Tennis Development Manager for Hampshire & Isle of Wight, said: “The team at the Alverstoke Tennis & Squash Club have done a fantastic job in taking tennis to the local community. This open day is just the start of an exciting future for the club which will include taking tennis to local schools, training teachers and bringing adults and juniors back to tennis”

A few places remain on coaching sessions during the week for adults and children. For more information call 07986078406 or visit www.gosporttennisacademy.co.uk
