On Sunday 14th July the newly redeveloped public courts at Milton Park in Portsmouth were officially opened.
Local coach Dave Watt who runs weekly community sessions at Milton Park, every Saturday morning 8.30-10.30am had organised a range of activities on court from Mini Tennis to Cardio Tennis, Junior and Adult Coaching to Family Tennis.
Over 50 people were on court throughout the day and everyone left with information on how to play more tennis more often. The 5 public courts are free to use and now in great condition thanks to £70,000 from the LTA / Tennis Foundation.
Andy Trott from the LTA said “This is a wonderful example of a free public facility that has something for everyone, whether you simply want to turn up and play with mates, perhaps you want some coaching, even equipment is available to hire from the café on the park for £1.”
Trott went on to say “It was great to see so many different people playing a sport together at the same time and enjoying it, tennis lends itself to families as they can all play together.”
