James Chaudry returned from Australia in January having competed at the junior event with a career high world junior ranking of 76. However, things haven’t gone to plan since and James was forced to miss a number of high profile events, including the French Open having torn his stomach muscle after his trip to Australia.
Rehabilitation has been painfully slow, meaning for a large amount of time James was unable to do anything physical at all, and was spending a large amount of time seeing the physios at the National Tennis Centre in London.
After a period of five weeks, he was gradually able to build up his programme and is now delighted to be back on court practising at the Bath High Performance Centre and David Lloyd Southampton Academy.
James hopes to participate in the ITF Grade 1 Wimbledon warm up event in Roehampton before heading back to the grass, where he made his debut at Wimbledon last year. He also hopes to take part in the Mens $15,000 ATP event later in the season.
James’ aspiration for the rest of the year, other than avoiding more injury, is to obtain his first ATP Mens Singles points.
A typical week for James will involve six days of training. Each day incorporates three and a half hours of tennis and one and a half hours of fitness.
James’ top 5 career achievements:
- Winning 13 & Under National Championships
- Winning 14 & Under National Championships
- Winning 16 & Under National Championships
- Winning both Nottingham and Budapest International Tennis Federation event
- Playing at both Wimbledon and the Australian Open
