Jamie King

Jamie King, 18, from Locksheath, Southampton has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Deaflympics in Taipei in September.

Jamie who was born deaf and uses a cochlear implant to hear has been on a punishing training schedule both here and in America and has just heard about his selection.

“I’m really pleased to be chosen,” said Jamie, “I feel it’s a reflection of all the heard work I have put in and I will be really excited going to Taipei and representing my country”.

Jamie is coached by Roger Manvell, head tennis pro at the Avenue Tennis Club in Havant, Jamie is also studying to become a tennis coach with Roger as his mentor.  Spurred on by the success of Andy Murray Jamie has been well supported by both Sports Aid and Hampshire & IOW LTA.
