Joe Cox, from Totally Tennis Basingstoke, reports on the club's Timed Tennis event that took place on Sunday 30th May:
The sun was shining when eleven aspiring tennis players from in and around Basingstoke turned out for Totally Tennis’ Timed Tennis Tournament. The tournament was open to players with the ratings of 10.1 and 10.2. The tournament was great value as each entry cost only £5. The format of the tournament was 20 minute matches where each player would everyone. The person with the most wins at the end of the day would be the tournament winner.
The tournament was a chance for the lower rated players to boost their ratings and gain confidence for the oncoming summer season.
“The tournament was a great chance for the lower rated players to increase their ratings” said Simon Johnson who was the competition official. The tournament was a day-long event and each player brought a lunch along with them and had regular breaks before matches to regain their breath.
The matches were played outdoors on tarmac courts, and thanks to the sun shining, the day proved to be a huge success with organisers and the players.
“I had a great time today and can’t wait for the next competition” said Adam Cox, who plays locally at Totally Tennis.
