Isle of Wight matchplays

Top Isle of Wight juniors are doing it for themselves these days. Tennis players Jonny Foulkes (16) of Ryde School and Ben Brading (17) of Sandown High have launched a new sports venture to put back into junior tennis some of their skill and experience.

Following training on the LTA's Competition Organisers course in January the boys launched Prestige Tennis Services with ratings matchplays at Portsmouth Indoor Tennis Centre and Ryde Mead Tennis Club.

Ratings tournaments are the key way a player measures their tennis ability to see how they are improving. A rating should also guide players what competitions to enter, and all British tennis players need a rating in order to compete.

Their venture has attracted Wightlink Ferries sponsorship for the first 10 players free ferry travel to expand the entry and give island players more of a challenging experience.
