Congratulations to our 14U Girls County Cup team who were 4th overall in the National finals held at Nottingham Tennis Centre over last weekend (16th-18th May). This is possibly the best ever result for our junior girls teams.
The team was: Thandi Mlambo, Freya Davies, Mary Stevens, Lorelei Sanderson, Astrid Williams and Aisling McGrane
The Captains were: Fiona Nicholson and assistant Vicky Hurford
Day 1: Full match v Middlesex
Lost 5-1

Freya and Thandi won an exceptional doubles at 1st pair.

4 singles v Warwickshire
3-1 down. (Still on court at 8.45pm)

Freya beat a player 4 ratings above her own to keep us in contention for next day.
Got to tennis centre at 8.45am, left 8.45pm, very long hot day!
Day 2: v Warwickshire- 2 doubles only
Doubles 1 Freya/Thandi 2 Lorelei/Astrid
Won both so Thandi & Freya played match tiebreak shoot out.
Won 10-1! Yeah!
v Bucks - full match
Team; 1 Thandi, 2 Freya, 3 Astrid, 4 Aisling
Doubles 1 Freya/Thandi 2 Lorelei/Astrid
Thandi and Freya won their singles and joined to win the doubles, 3 matches all, tiebreak shoot out again.
Thandi & Freya fresh with confidence win again! 10-8 Yeah!
Day 3: v Sussex for 3rd/4th playoffs

Doubles 1 Freya/Thandi 2 Aisling/Astrid
So all Hampshire & IOW girls played on the last day, Thandi had a close 3 setter and Freya lost 7-5, 7-6 but Sussex took the match 5-0, 1st pair doubles not played.
We said goodbye to Freya and Mary who now move on up out of this age group.
